Senior Accounts Payable Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accounts Payable Accountant to lead and oversee AP transaction processing within our Shared Service Centre in Riga. You will ensure accuracy, compliance and timely execution of all AP activities while supporting internal and external audits.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and oversee AP transaction processing, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with procedures and internal controls.
• Monitor workflow approvals and review postings performed by AP accountants.
• Manage day‑to‑day Accounts Payable activities and meet agreed deadlines and service levels.
• Perform and review account reconciliations to guarantee accurate financial records.
• Investigate and resolve complex vendor invoice discrepancies in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Identify, propose and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, standardisation and automation.
• Maintain AP procedures, manuals and end‑user documentation.
• Support internal and external audits with accurate documentation.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, sales companies and Shared Service Centre departments.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth AP operations.

Required profile

• Professional degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field (or currently studying).
• Previous experience in Accounts Payable or a similar accounting role; Shared Service Centre experience is a plus.
• Detail‑oriented with the ability to deliver accurate results under tight deadlines.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and independent‑working skills.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Proactive, self‑motivated and comfortable with limited supervision.
• Adaptable to a changing, international environment.
• Good command of written and spoken English.

Required skills

• SAP Financial Accounting (SAP FI); knowledge of other ERP systems is a plus.
