Head of Risk

About the role

Mintos is building a platform to help millions of Europeans grow long‑term wealth and is on the path to obtain a banking licence from the ECB. As Head of Risk you will lead and scale the risk function to meet the demands of a business transitioning into a credit institution, reporting directly to the Management Board member responsible for risk oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the risk team, ensuring full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Drive the transition of Mintos’ risk‑management framework to satisfy banking supervision, including ICAAP, ILAAP, risk‑appetite and governance documentation.
• Combine strategic oversight with hands‑on involvement in key risk initiatives.
• Continuously improve efficiency by leveraging technology, automation and AI‑driven tools.
• Maintain smooth, transparent, and proactive collaboration with regulators.
• Act as a trusted partner to the Management and Supervisory Boards, aligning risk strategy with business objectives.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability and integrity across the risk function and the wider organisation.

Required profile

• 5+ years of risk‑management experience in a bank or regulated financial institution, covering credit, market, interest‑rate and liquidity risk.
• Deep knowledge of the prudential banking framework, including CRR/CRD, ICAAP and ILAAP.
• Strategic mindset paired with a hands‑on leadership style.
• Proven experience working with regulators and auditors.
• Track record of building and developing high‑performing teams.
• Excellent English; Latvian language skills are a strong advantage.
