Head of Cyber Security

About the role

Strategic Staffing Solutions customer is a global IT services and technology company supporting major organisations with digital transformation and is looking for an experienced Head of Cyber Security to join the team. The role will lead the cybersecurity operations function, set strategy and ensure resilience across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a multidisciplinary cybersecurity operations team, including workforce planning, recruitment, capability development and performance management.
• Set the operational strategy, priorities, objectives and service measures for the cybersecurity function, aligned with business risk and technology goals.
• Oversee security monitoring, threat detection, incident triage, investigation, containment, recovery and post‑incident improvement.
• Maintain incident response plans, escalation paths, playbooks and exercises appropriate to the organisation’s risk profile.
• Drive continuous improvement of security processes, tooling, automation, reporting and operational resilience.
• Translate cyber risk, operational trends and incidents into clear reporting for senior stakeholders, including agreed metrics and recommended actions.
• Coordinate with infrastructure, application, cloud, data, privacy, legal, audit and business teams to embed proportionate security controls.
• Support security architecture, policy, standards, risk assessments and compliance activities without prescribing organisation‑specific frameworks.
• Manage relevant budgets, suppliers and service partners, monitoring delivery, value, quality and risk.
• Promote a culture of accountability, secure working practices, confidentiality and timely escalation of security concerns.

Required profile

• Substantial professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, technology risk or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience leading teams or operational services in a complex technology environment.
• Practical knowledge of security operations, incident management, threat monitoring, vulnerability management and operational resilience.
• Experience developing policies, procedures, service measures, management reporting and improvement road maps.
• Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience; recognized security or risk certifications are advantageous.
