Finance & Accounting Lead - Business Central Setup, AI Agents & Latvian Tax

About the role

We are a Latvia‑based startup building a finance function that combines accurate accounting, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and practical AI automation. You will own the entire accounting process while configuring and migrating our systems, using AI agents to increase efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day bookkeeping, AP/AR, invoicing, expense accounting and bank reconciliations.
• Complete month‑end and year‑end closing, balance‑sheet reconciliations, accruals and supporting documentation.
• Set up, configure and maintain Business Central (chart of accounts, posting groups, dimensions, VAT, bank accounts, periods, workflows).
• Lead the full migration from QuickBooks to Business Central, including data extraction, mapping, cleansing, trial imports, validation and go‑live.
• Review five years of historical accounting records, identify gaps, correct errors and ensure a traceable audit trail.
• Prepare and file Latvian tax and statutory reports (VAT, corporate income tax, payroll obligations, VID/EDS).
• Manage cash‑flow forecasts, budgets, runway monitoring and management reporting.
• Configure, instruct and supervise AI agents for document processing, transaction matching, reconciliation and reporting, verifying all outputs.

Required profile

• Proven experience handling the full accounting cycle and tax reporting for companies in one or more European countries, with Latvian tax knowledge a plus.
• Hands‑on experience independently setting up and configuring Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and executing a complete system migration.
• Experience using AI‑supported automation in finance, supervising outputs and handling exceptions.
• Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills, able to investigate incomplete records and reconcile data.
• Professional proficiency in English and ability to work with Latvian‑language financial documents.
