Data Steward – Data & Analytics Governance

About the role

The Data Steward for Data & Analytics Governance will ensure the quality, integrity, and proper usage of data across Roche’s Digital Backbone. Working closely with cross‑functional teams in the ASPIRE program, Roche Data Insights, Informatics, and Enterprise Master Data Management, the role drives consistent application of governance policies, standards, and controls.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance metadata repositories such as Collibra and SAP Datasphere to support data discovery, lineage, and understanding.
• Support implementation and adherence to the Data & Analytics Governance Framework and act as a liaison between business and IT teams.
• Collaborate with data product owners, report owners, and subject‑matter experts to define, document, and manage metadata catalogs.
• Promote consistency and standardisation of business terms and reference data definitions across the Finance Data Domain.
• Establish and maintain end‑to‑end data lineage for traceability, impact assessment, and regulatory compliance.
• Identify and resolve metadata gaps that could affect data quality or decision‑making.
• Partner with business and IT teams to drive metadata awareness, adoption, and literacy through training and workshops.
• Monitor key metadata quality metrics, proactively address issues, and continuously refine management processes.
• Contribute to optimisation of metadata tools and automation, including AI‑augmented metadata handling.

Required profile

• Experience working with metadata management tools and repositories.
• Strong collaboration skills to act as a bridge between business and IT stakeholders.
• Understanding of data governance frameworks and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Ability to conduct data lineage mapping and impact analysis.
