Temporary Chief Cook – Hotel Department

About the role

As a Chief Cook you will join Stena Line’s crew in the Baltic Sea North Region, working within the hotel department on a passenger ferry. This is a temporary position based in Latvia, where you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality meals to passengers and crew while ensuring compliance with all safety and hygiene standards.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare daily menus for passengers and crew.
• Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff to maintain efficient service.
• Manage food inventory, ordering, and storage in line with safety regulations.
• Ensure strict adherence to food hygiene and maritime safety standards.
• Collaborate with suppliers, onboard departments, and the ship’s management team.

Required profile

• Communicative, approachable and a strong team player.
• Ability to work at high speed in a structured manner.
• Valid certificates: Basic Safety Training, Security Awareness, Crowd Management (preferred), Safety Training for Personnel Providing Direct Service to Passengers, Food Hygiene.
• Valid Cook’s Diploma, Medical Certificate and EU passport.
• At least one year of experience in a hotel or culinary department, on land or at sea.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food hygiene and safety procedures.
• Basic culinary skills and menu planning.
• Understanding of maritime safety and crowd management concepts.
