Senior Java Engineer – Core Financial Services

About the role

Luminor is looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer to design and build robust, scalable systems for its core banking platform. You will work with Java 21, Spring Boot, Kafka and cloud‑native technologies in an Agile, cross‑functional team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement messaging, service‑to‑service communication, APIs, file and workflow management across all business streams.
• Build and evolve event‑driven systems using Apache Kafka as a core backbone.
• Own solutions end‑to‑end, from design through production stability.
• Ensure high standards of quality, security, availability and performance.
• Drive technical discussions, contribute to architecture decisions and challenge existing solutions.
• Create proofs of concept to validate new ideas and technologies.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and stakeholders to solve complex problems and improve reliability.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with Java (preferably Java 21) and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience designing distributed, event‑driven systems (Kafka or similar).
• Hands‑on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Argo CD).
• Solid understanding of modern microservices architecture and API design.
• Ownership mindset and ability to tackle challenging engineering problems.
• Fluent English for Pan‑Baltic collaboration.
