Lead Software Engineer – HMI for UAV Ground Control System

About the role

Lead Software Engineer responsible for the Human‑Machine Interface (HMI) of the Ground Control System (GCS) for the Penguin UAV, guiding a team of engineers to deliver safe, reliable and user‑friendly mission control solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor the software engineering team developing the GCS.
• Define and evolve the software architecture and development practices.
• Design, implement and test user interfaces for aircraft command, mission planning and execution.
• Ensure software safety, reliability and compliance with mission performance requirements.
• Collaborate with operators and flight‑test teams to gather feedback and improve usability.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce operator workload and increase mission success.

Required profile

• Proven experience in UAV/GCS software development and architecture decision‑making.
• Strong coding expertise in C# and C++ with solid OOP principles.
• Experience with MVVM, Qt, QML, WinForms and WPF for UI development.
• Track record of conducting code reviews, mentoring engineers and aligning technical road‑maps with product goals.
• Project planning skills including work estimation, cross‑functional coordination and on‑time delivery.
• Excellent communication and ability to represent engineering projects to stakeholders.
• Experience improving development processes (code reviews, CI/CD, Agile) and ensuring high software quality.
