Category Buyer – Procurement (Junior)

About the role

Cabot Corporation is seeking a Category Buyer to support the development and execution of procurement strategies for assigned categories. You will work closely with Category Managers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure the availability of goods and services while delivering value to the business.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development and execution of category and sourcing strategies.
• Analyze spend, demand, pricing, and market trends to identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Lead sourcing activities such as RFIs, RFQs/RFPs, supplier evaluation, and negotiations.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard new suppliers and support contract implementation.
• Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvements.
• Track savings and contribute to sustainability, innovation, and process‑improvement initiatives.
• Prepare reports and align procurement activities with business needs.
• Collaborate with Procurement Operations to support purchase order execution and supplier follow‑up.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1–3 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, or Purchasing.
• Experience with sourcing activities, supplier management, and contract negotiations.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret spend, supplier, and market data.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Proactive, well‑organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
