Chef Internship (Unpaid) – Food Production

About the role

This unpaid six‑month internship offers hands‑on experience in fish canning production at a leading Latvian food manufacturer. You will work on the production floor, learning the complete cycle from raw fish handling to final product packaging.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in fish cleaning, filleting, thermal processing and product packaging.
• Learn and apply quality standards throughout the production cycle.
• Support daily tasks of colleagues, especially junior team members.
• Compare completed work with production specifications and report discrepancies.
• Analyze personal work efficiency to maximise output.
• Assist in process improvement, data collection and production analytics where applicable.

Required profile

• Age 18‑29, meeting the New Specialist Employment Programme criteria.
• Education or studies in food production (chef, assistant chef, production technician, food technologist or related fields).
• Manual dexterity, responsibility, precision and willingness to work with routine processes.
• Motivation to develop a career in food production and progress to roles such as brigadier, master, senior master or production technologist.

Required skills

• Basic computer skills (Navision, MS Excel).
• Good communication abilities and time‑management.
• Proficiency in Latvian and English.
