Head of Risk – Lead Risk Function for a FinTech

About the role

Mintos is building a platform that helps millions across Europe build long‑term wealth and is pursuing a banking licence from the ECB. As Head of Risk you will lead and scale the risk function while the company transitions to a credit institution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the risk team, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Transition Mintos’ risk management framework to meet banking supervision standards, including ICAAP, ILAAP, risk appetite and governance documentation.
• Combine strategic oversight with hands‑on involvement in key risk initiatives.
• Enhance function efficiency through technology, automation and AI‑driven tools.
• Maintain proactive, transparent collaboration with the regulator.
• Act as a trusted partner to the management and supervisory boards, aligning risk strategy with business objectives.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability and integrity across the risk team and the wider organisation.

Required profile

• 5+ years of risk management experience in a bank or regulated financial institution, covering credit, market, interest‑rate and liquidity risk.
• Deep knowledge of the prudential banking framework (CRR/CRD, ICAAP/ILAAP).
• Strategic mindset combined with a hands‑on leadership style.
• Experience working with regulators and auditors.
• Proven track record of building and developing high‑performing teams.
• Excellent English; Latvian language skills are a strong advantage.
