Dari/Pashto Interpreter for Safety & Wellness Program

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks a dedicated volunteer to provide Dari and Pashto interpretation for its Safety & Wellness Program. This hybrid position supports refugees and immigrants by facilitating accurate communication between clients and mental‑health service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret verbally for support groups, psycho‑educational workshops, meetings, appointments, and community events.
• Translate written materials such as handouts, outreach documents, and program resources.
• Coordinate with Mental Health Coordinators and program staff to schedule and prepare for assignments.
• Maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and professional boundaries at all times.
• Participate in volunteer orientations, trainings, and debrief sessions.

Required profile

• Fluent in both Dari and Pashto with strong oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment to confidentiality, neutrality, and ethical interpretation standards.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams serving displaced communities.
