About the role
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks a dedicated volunteer to provide Dari and Pashto interpretation for its Safety & Wellness Program. This hybrid position supports refugees and immigrants by facilitating accurate communication between clients and mental‑health service providers.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret verbally for support groups, psycho‑educational workshops, meetings, appointments, and community events.
- Translate written materials such as handouts, outreach documents, and program resources.
- Coordinate with Mental Health Coordinators and program staff to schedule and prepare for assignments.
- Maintain confidentiality, neutrality, and professional boundaries at all times.
- Participate in volunteer orientations, trainings, and debrief sessions.
Required profile
- Fluent in both Dari and Pashto with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality, neutrality, and ethical interpretation standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams serving displaced communities.
