Telco SRE Engineer

About the role

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join its Telco Software Development team. You will design and operate GitOps‑driven infrastructure for LTE/5G core and RAN services in a fast‑moving, greenfield environment, delivering code that runs on real network infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement GitOps‑based Kubernetes deployments using ArgoCD, Helm and Kustomize.
• Develop Infrastructure‑as‑Code for telco platforms with Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines, GitLab CI) for automated, auditable releases.
• Manage containerised workloads on AWS/EKS, Azure or GCP supporting 5G core, RAN and LTE services.
• Implement monitoring, logging and alerting using Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog or New Relic.
• Automate operational tasks with Python, Bash or Go and create runbooks and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of production SRE/DevOps experience, preferably with telecom or network projects.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, high ownership and ability to work in a globally distributed team.

• CI/CD tools: Azure Pipelines, GitLab CI.
• Monitoring & logging: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, New Relic.

• Networking fundamentals and telecom concepts (5G, LTE, RAN, core).
