KYC Specialist – Customer Operations

About the role

The KYC Specialist joins GoCardless' international Customer Operations team, responsible for onboarding and verifying new merchants while conducting Customer Due Diligence reviews for existing clients. The role combines compliance expertise with a customer‑centric approach and serves as an escalation point for complex compliance issues.

Key responsibilities

• Review adverse media, PEP and sanctions screening escalations, providing detailed risk assessments and recommendations.
• Support merchants during onboarding and verification stages, handling internal escalations such as potential fraud or money‑laundering activities.
• Collaborate with AML Financial Crime, Customer Success and other teams to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
• Conduct due‑diligence checks on new and existing merchants in line with internal and external requirements.

Required profile

• Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
• Previous experience in KYC or AML compliance.
• Detail‑oriented and able to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Comfortable interacting with internal stakeholders at all levels and maintaining composure under pressure.
