Java Backend Developer (Riga)

About the role

Join a leading financial institution that is modernising its banking services through digital transformation. As a Java Backend Developer you will work on the core internet banking platform, delivering secure and high‑performance solutions used by thousands of customers every day.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain the internet banking platform using modern Java (17+) technologies.
• Implement new digital banking services and continuously improve existing functionality.
• Ensure security, stability and high performance of all backend solutions.
• Collaborate with product managers, analysts and fellow developers to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Contribute to system architecture, integration projects and overall technological evolution.
• Follow best practices in code quality, testing, CI/CD and support the team’s technical growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Java backend development (Java 17 or newer) and solid OOP knowledge.
• Strong skills in MySQL, writing complex SQL queries and optimizing data performance.
• Hands‑on experience building and integrating REST APIs within a microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with the Java ecosystem (Spring MVC, JPA, Hibernate) and unit testing (JUnit).
• Basic Linux knowledge and experience with web servers such as Nginx or Apache.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines and Docker, plus an understanding of security principles.
