Human Machine Interface (HMI) IPT Lead - Software Engineering

About the role

Redwire Corporation is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to head the Human Machine Interface (HMI) Integrated Product Team (IPT) for the Ground Control System (GCS) of the Penguin UAS. You will guide a team of engineers to deliver safe, reliable, and user‑friendly mission control software for complex UAV operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers developing the GCS.
• Define software architecture, development practices, and technical road‑maps.
• Design, implement, and test user interfaces for aircraft command, mission planning, and execution.
• Ensure software safety, reliability, and compliance with mission performance requirements.
• Collaborate with operators and flight‑test teams to gather feedback and improve usability.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce operator workload and increase mission success.

Required profile

• Proven experience in UAS/UAV GCS software development and architecture decisions.
• Strong coding expertise in C# and C++ with solid OOP principles.
• Experience conducting code reviews, mentoring engineers, and aligning technical road‑maps with product goals.
• Excellent communication skills for stakeholder representation and team discussions.
• Track record of improving development processes (CI/CD, Agile) and delivering high‑quality software.
