Head of Payments

About the role

The Head of Payments will own the performance of all payment channels across The Customization Group’s e‑commerce shops and partner stores. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, you will work closely with tech, data, legal, procurement and finance teams to drive higher acceptance, lower fraud and reduced transaction costs.

Key responsibilities

• Define and monitor KPIs for acceptance, fraud, chargebacks and cost per transaction across all verticals and providers.
• Set fraud‑prevention rules, scoring thresholds and dispute handling in collaboration with data and tech teams.
• Develop and execute the PSP and payment‑method strategy, consolidating providers and onboarding new solutions.
• Negotiate group‑wide terms with PayPal/Braintree, Adyen, Klarna, Stripe and Shopify Payments and track contractual commitments.
• Prioritise payment‑related topics on the tech roadmap and sign off releases.
• Provide finance with clean payment data for cost planning, reconciliation and month‑end closing.

Required profile

• 7+ years of payments experience in e‑commerce or fintech, with responsibility for acceptance, fraud and cost optimisation.
• Proven track record in PSP negotiations or migrations, including contract review and volume commitment management.
• Deep knowledge of card‑payment flows, AVS/CVV/SCA/3DS, interchange, chargeback lifecycle and Visa/Mastercard rules.
• Hands‑on experience with fraud‑prevention rule engines, risk scoring and threshold tuning.
• Strong analytical skills, able to query payment data (SQL) and present data‑driven improvements.
