Senior Accountant – Fintech Company in Riga

About the role

We are supporting a newly established fintech company in Latvia that is building an acquiring‑focused payments platform. The Senior Accountant will own the accounting function during a critical growth phase, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting in line with Latvian legislation and internal policies.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and statements.
• Submit required reports to the State Revenue Service, Bank of Latvia, Central Statistical Bureau and other authorities.
• Handle tax accounting, calculate and pay taxes on time, and monitor regulatory changes.
• Process payroll, including taxes and deductions, and manage supplier invoices and payments.
• Lead annual audit preparation and act as the main contact for auditors.
• Provide accounting guidance to management and produce ad‑hoc financial analyses.

Required profile

• Higher education in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a senior accounting or chief accountant role.
• At least 2 years of experience preparing annual financial statements and supporting external audits.
• Strong knowledge of Latvian accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and take ownership.
• Fluency in Latvian and English.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting software implementation (nice to have).
