Neonatologist – Pediatric Intensive Care

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Neonatologist to join our tertiary‑level neonatal clinic in Torņakalns, Riga. The specialist will provide advanced care for preterm and critically ill newborns, working within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess newborn health, establish diagnoses and manage treatment according to clinical guidelines.
• Deliver intensive respiratory and hemodynamic support for premature and critically ill infants.
• Coordinate peri‑operative care with pediatric surgeons, cardiac surgeons and anesthesiologists.
• Identify clinical deterioration promptly, make urgent decisions and organize multidisciplinary assistance.
• Develop discharge plans and ensure smooth transition from intensive care to regular ward care.
• Communicate empathetically with families, involving them in care decisions.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation and participate in quality‑improvement projects.

Required profile

• Medical degree with a valid Neonatology certification.
• Registration in the national health personnel register.
• Proficiency in Latvian at a professional level and English for scientific literature.
• Ability to make independent clinical decisions in dynamic situations.
• Commitment to evidence‑based medicine, patient safety and continuous professional development.

Required skills

• Bedside ultrasound imaging.
• Neurosonography.
• Functional echocardiography.
