About the role

AstraZeneca is seeking a Medical Consultant specialized in rare diseases to join its Latvian team. The role blends scientific expertise with strategic collaboration, working primarily from the office while spending a portion of time engaging with external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Promote evidence‑based scientific exchange and lead non‑promotional scientific activities.
• Present at scientific conferences in accordance with local regulations.
• Organise and chair advisory boards and partner with healthcare organisations and patient advocacy groups.
• Collect and analyse disease insights, identify evidence gaps and develop medical strategies, access plans and real‑world evidence priorities.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with Key External Experts (KEE), healthcare organisations (HCO) and patient advocacy groups (PAG).
• Support evidence generation through collaboration with regional evidence teams on external studies, real‑world evidence projects and clinical trials.
• Act as an internal scientific expert, contribute to KEE and congress planning, deliver internal training, and review medical content for compliance.

Required profile

• Strong scientific background with expertise in rare diseases.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setting (approximately 70% office, 30% field).
• Experience collaborating with external experts, healthcare organisations and patient groups.
• Excellent communication skills for scientific presentations and advisory board facilitation.
