Finance & Accounting Lead – Business Central, AI Agents & Latvian Tax

About the role

We are a Latvia‑based startup building a finance function that blends accurate accounting, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and AI automation. You will own the entire accounting process while configuring and migrating our systems, using AI agents to increase efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Perform day‑to‑day bookkeeping, AP/AR, invoicing, expense accounting and bank reconciliations.
• Drive month‑end and year‑end closing, balance‑sheet reconciliations, accruals and supporting documentation.
• Configure and maintain Business Central (chart of accounts, posting groups, dimensions, VAT, bank accounts, periods, workflows).
• Execute the full migration from QuickBooks to Business Central, including data extraction, mapping, cleansing, trial imports, validation and go‑live.
• Review five years of historical accounting records, identify gaps, correct errors and preserve an audit trail.
• Prepare and file Latvian tax and statutory reports (VAT, corporate tax, payroll obligations, VID/EDS).
• Handle international customers, suppliers, foreign currencies and cross‑border transactions.
• Manage cash‑flow forecasts, budgets, runway monitoring and management reporting.
• Configure, instruct and supervise AI agents for document processing, transaction matching, reconciliation and reporting, verifying all outputs.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing the full accounting cycle for companies in one or more European countries, with knowledge of Latvian tax requirements (advantageous).
• Hands‑on experience setting up and configuring Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and executing a complete system migration.
• Practical use of AI agents or AI‑supported automation in finance, including supervision of outputs and error handling.
• Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills for investigating and reconciling inconsistent data.
• Independent work habits, ownership of deadlines and clear communication with the founder.
• Professional proficiency in English and ability to work with Latvian‑language financial documents.
• Relevant accounting or finance qualification, or equivalent substantial practical experience.
