Detection Engineering Lead

About the role

As the Detection Engineering Lead you will design, build and continuously improve Cabot’s threat detection capabilities across its global manufacturing environment, working in a hybrid model with internal teams and an external managed detection partner.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing and improvement of security detection content across monitoring platforms.
• Define and maintain telemetry and logging requirements for effective threat detection.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external security providers to enhance detection quality and operational effectiveness.
• Support threat hunting, incident response and investigations by providing detection expertise.
• Develop and maintain threat‑informed detection strategies aligned with frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK.

Required profile

• 5+ years in security operations, detection engineering or threat detection.
• Deep hands‑on expertise with a major enterprise SIEM (e.g., Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, Elastic, QRadar).
• Experience working with or governing a managed detection provider (MDR/MSSP).
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python.
• SIEM query languages such as KQL or SPL and regular expressions.
• Strong knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK, log pipelines and threat detection methodology.
