About the role

As a Controls Specialist you will own the end‑to‑end controls framework for our operational teams, including Payments Operations, Billing and Credit Control. You will work closely with the Regulatory Compliance team and the broader Enterprise Risk community to design, implement and maintain robust controls, and you will act as the main point of contact for our annual Safeguarding and SOC1 audits.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and implement controls in partnership with Regulatory Compliance and 1st‑line owners.
  • Conduct regular control assessments and update Safeguarding and SOC1 assessments.
  • Manage key controls within Internal Operations teams and redesign processes to meet evolving business needs.
  • Lead audit engagements, explain first‑line controls to auditors and regulators, and ensure successful audit outcomes.
  • Improve efficiency through standardisation, automation or removal of unnecessary controls.
  • Build strong relationships across lines of defence to identify risk exposure, deficiencies and gaps.
  • Drive change autonomously from the ground up.

Required profile

  • Experience in a regulated environment, preferably financial services or FinTech.
  • Background in audit or similar role with proven ability to design, implement and test controls.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to simplify and explain control rationale.
  • Ability to balance compliance requirements with operational efficiency.
  • Solid understanding of the three lines of defence and experience working with regulatory teams and external auditors.
  • Strong attention to detail, structured work style and comfort with data analysis.
  • Comfortable in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Self‑starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.
