Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – FinTech Startup

About the role

The company is building a regulated FinTech product for electronic money and payment services. As Chief Financial Officer you will lead the finance function from the final stages of the EMI licence application through the launch and scaling of the commercial operation.

Key responsibilities

• Own the financial work stream required to complete the EMI licensing process.
• Prepare, validate and defend financial projections, budgets, capital plans, liquidity assumptions and stress scenarios.
• Coordinate financial submissions with regulators, auditors, advisers and other external stakeholders.
• Establish financial governance, internal controls, approval processes and finance policies for launch.
• Build and lead accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury and management reporting processes.
• Oversee capital adequacy, liquidity, safeguarding arrangements and regulatory financial reporting.
• Translate the licensed business plan into a practical operating model for the go‑to‑market stage.
• Advise senior leadership on pricing, unit economics, cost management, funding requirements and commercial priorities.
• Monitor financial and regulatory risks, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
• Develop the finance team, systems and external partnerships to support sustainable growth.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior finance leadership experience, including CFO‑level responsibility within an EU‑regulated financial institution.
• Hands‑on involvement in an EMI, payment institution, banking or comparable financial licence application.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory reporting, capital adequacy, liquidity management, safeguarding and financial governance.
• Proven experience building accounting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, audit and management reporting processes.
• Ability to own the finance function in both pre‑launch and operational environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
• Professional proficiency in Latvian and English.
