Chief Compliance Officer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to join the board of a regulated financial services company operating in Latvia’s payment ecosystem. The CCO will be responsible for overseeing the firm’s compliance, AML/CTF, sanctions and regulatory risk management functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the AML/CTF/PF, sanctions and regulatory compliance system.
• Oversee the Compliance and MLRO functions, ensuring their independence and effectiveness.
• Supervise AML policy, risk assessments, client‑risk methodology and the annual compliance plan.
• Act as the senior liaison with the Latvian Bank, FIU Latvia and other supervisory authorities.
• Ensure adherence to Latvian and EU regulations, including PSD2, EMD2, the NILLTPFN law, DORA and GDPR.
• Provide regular AML, compliance and regulatory risk reports to the Board.
• Oversee approvals for high‑risk clients and partnerships when required.
• Lead the response to material compliance, AML or sanctions incidents and regulatory breaches.

Required profile

• Senior‑management experience in compliance, AML or financial crime within a regulated financial institution.
• Strong knowledge of AML/CTF, sanctions and financial‑services regulation.
• Good understanding of Latvian and EU regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience interacting with regulators and competent authorities.
• Experience at senior‑management or board level.
• Professional proficiency in English; Russian and Latvian are advantageous.
