Youth Program Specialist (Limited Term)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Youth Program Specialist on a limited‑term basis to design and deliver programs that help immigrant and refugee youth thrive in their new communities. You will work closely with families, schools, and community partners to ensure young people receive the support they need for educational success.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement after‑school, cultural enrichment, tutoring, mentoring, and college‑preparation activities for youth.
• Coordinate services with local school systems to promote regular attendance and parental involvement.
• Orient newly arrived families to the U.S. public‑school system and relevant family‑law issues.
• Conduct pre‑ and post‑tests to assess families’ understanding of school participation requirements.
• Advocate for children experiencing abuse, neglect, or special‑needs challenges and refer to partner agencies.
• Provide training to school personnel on the cultural and language needs of refugee families.
• Monitor and track student progress across grade levels and maintain accurate intake and service‑plan documentation.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to supporting immigrant and refugee youth and families.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with students, parents, schools, and community stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple programs, maintain detailed records, and meet reporting requirements.
• Experience working in a humanitarian or nonprofit environment is preferred.
