WIOA ESL Assistant Instructor Intern

About the role

The WIOA ESL Assistant Instructor Intern will support the lead ESL teacher in delivering English language classes to refugees and immigrants. The role involves assisting with lesson delivery, administrative tasks, and student outreach, both in‑person and via Zoom.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in ESL classes using interactive, learner‑centered activities.
• Record daily attendance for each class.
• Prepare class materials, such as photocopying lesson resources.
• Conduct outreach to students to encourage attendance.
• Meet with the lead teacher to receive instruction and guidance.

Required profile

• Experience teaching ESL to adults; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Experience working with adult learners from diverse backgrounds, including those with limited formal education.
• Strong classroom management skills and confidence facilitating both large and small groups.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
• Reliability and commitment to remain in the position through the end of the semester.
• Fluency in Spanish, French, Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, or Dari is a plus.
