About the role
The Multimedia Training Intern will support Switchboard’s Innovation and Digital Access (IDiA) team in creating engaging video tutorials that help refugees and service providers navigate digital tools. This part‑time, 4‑5 month internship offers hands‑on experience in video editing, storytelling, and emerging technologies such as virtual reality.
Key responsibilities
- Shadow the IDiA team while they produce educational and technology tutorial videos.
- Edit raw footage into concise clips, add captions, insert simple graphics, and organize project assets.
- Participate in weekly learning sessions on storytelling, instructional clarity, and video accessibility.
- Research and test new digital tools (e.g., VR applications) for potential integration into resettlement services.
- Complete a final written and video deliverable that demonstrates the skills acquired.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic about video editing, digital storytelling, and humanitarian impact.
- Currently enrolled in a relevant academic program or recent graduate.
- Detail‑oriented, able to follow guided workflows and meet deadlines.
Required skills
- Basic video editing (trimming clips, adding captions, simple graphics).
- Familiarity with digital literacy or VR‑related content is a plus.
