About the role
The International Rescue Committee seeks a Haitian‑Creole Interpreter to provide accurate, impartial and confidential interpretation services for Limited English Proficient individuals across a variety of settings. This position supports refugees, immigrants and other vulnerable populations by bridging language gaps in health, education and community contexts.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver in‑person, telephone, video‑conference or virtual interpretation for clients and service providers in clinics, hospitals, schools, community organisations and government agencies.
- Record assignments and work hours using the organization’s tracking software.
- Participate in scheduled trainings, assessments and occasional special projects.
- Maintain confidentiality and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- High school diploma strongly preferred; interpretation certification preferred.
- Relevant professional interpretation experience, especially with refugee or immigrant populations, is a plus.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written) and Haitian‑Creole.
- Strong cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust.
- Reliable transportation to reach appointment locations.
Required skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
