Finance Officer

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Finance Officer to support the financial operations of its Belgium and Switzerland entities. Reporting to the Head of Finance, the role involves accurate management of accounts payable, receivable, and treasury activities while collaborating with global finance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries and invoice journals in Microsoft D365, ensuring correct coding.
• Review, encode, and monitor staff travel expense reports.
• Maintain the accounting database, control monthly transactions, and make necessary adjustments.
• Process vendor payments and monitor vendor accounts to avoid outstanding balances.
• Participate in month‑end closing activities, including payroll journals, credit‑card reconciliation, and expense report validation.
• Support fixed‑asset register maintenance and produce monthly financial reports, bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Assist the Head of Finance in preparing annual financial statements and facilitate internal and external audits.
• Communicate financial topics to finance and non‑finance staff, providing training for new employees.
• Promote adherence to IRC policies and values, and support communication with internal and external partners.
