Traction Substations Design Supervisor

About the role

The Traction Substations Design Supervisor will lead the technical design of traction power substations (TPS) for rail projects in the Baltic region. Reporting to the TPS Design Lead, you will ensure that all subcontractor designs meet the Cobelec technology concept, TSI standards, safety regulations and project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve TPS designs submitted by engineering subcontractors, guaranteeing compliance with technical standards and project requirements.
• Develop an in‑depth understanding of each design to confidently justify and defend engineering solutions to customers and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate daily TPS design activities, resolve technical clashes across internal and external interfaces, and support the project through construction and commissioning.
• Oversee the creation and accuracy of as‑built records and Operations & Maintenance documentation.
• Provide expert guidance to the wider TPS team and partner engineering disciplines.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience in substation or rail traction infrastructure design.
• Extensive knowledge of power systems, traction power systems, substation equipment and relevant international/local standards.
• Proven ability to understand complex designs and communicate technical choices to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Experience allocating design tasks and mentoring junior engineers in a collaborative environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail.
