Senior Java Software Engineer (Core Financial Services)

About the role

Join Luminor as a Senior Java Software Engineer and help build a local banking champion. You will design and develop robust, scalable systems for the bank’s core platform using Java 21, Spring Boot, Kafka and cloud‑native technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and continuously improve messaging, service‑to‑service communication, APIs, file and workflow management systems.
• Build and evolve event‑driven architectures with Apache Kafka as a backbone.
• Own solutions end‑to‑end, from design through production stability.
• Ensure high standards of quality, security, availability and performance.
• Drive technical discussions, contribute to architecture decisions and challenge existing solutions.
• Develop proof‑of‑concepts for new ideas and technologies.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and stakeholders to solve complex problems.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve reliability.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with Java (preferably Java 21) and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience designing and building distributed, event‑driven systems (Kafka or similar).
• Hands‑on experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Argo CD).
• Experience with modern microservices architecture and API design.
• Solid understanding of SQL databases; NoSQL experience is a plus.
• Ownership mindset and ability to tackle challenging engineering problems.
• Team player with strong collaboration skills.
• Fluent English, both spoken and written.
