Refugee Economic Empowerment Intern (Summer 2026)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a motivated intern to support its Economic Empowerment program, which helps newly arrived refugees achieve self‑sufficiency through entry‑level employment in the United States. This summer internship offers hands‑on experience in client assessment, resume development, job search assistance, and partnership outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Assess new clients and develop individualized initial employment plans.
• Create tailored resumes and cover letters, identify job leads, and complete applications alongside clients.
• Research potential employer partners and conduct outreach to expand placement opportunities.
• Enter service data electronically and maintain organized client documentation.
• Manage distribution and tracking of in‑kind donations for clients.
• Support the employment team with additional tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Current undergraduate or graduate student, or less than 12 months out of school.
• Minimum 24 hours per week for a three‑month commitment; full‑time availability (32‑40 hours) preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Interest in serving refugee and humanitarian populations.

Required skills

• Digital literacy and ability to learn new software quickly.
