Railway Safety Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Railway Safety Engineer to support the Rail Baltica project in Latvia. The role involves ensuring safety compliance for high‑speed rail systems and coordinating with designers, contractors and the RB Rail safety assurance team.

Key responsibilities

• Review internal safety guidelines and procedures.
• Support propagation of RAMS policy across the Rail Baltica project.
• Prepare and review risk analysis and risk management documentation for designers and contractors.
• Conduct qualitative risk analysis for project systems.
• Review railway systems safety cases and AsBo reports.
• Provide technical expertise to the RB Safety Assurance Review Group as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years experience as a Railway Safety Engineer on systems such as ETCS, communication, power, track or civil infrastructure.
• Experience on at least two railway signalling projects, including one high‑speed line.
• Proven ability to develop and review safety requirements, safety programmes, verification & validation plans and safety cases in line with EU Regulation 402 and EN50126/28/29.
• Strong background in qualitative risk analysis methods (PHA, SHA, IHA, OSHA) and management of hazard record logs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with high ethical standards.
