PHP Developer – Fixed-Term (Hybrid, Riga)

About the role

Join Addendum’s insurance technology team to maintain, enhance, and modernize business‑critical insurance applications. You will work on both modern and legacy PHP systems in a hybrid setting based in Riga, Latvia, on a fixed‑term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and improve PHP‑based insurance applications and related backend services.
• Work with legacy PHP 5.6 code and upgrade to PHP 8.x where possible.
• Design and implement APIs, integrations, and database components using MySQL.
• Collaborate with frontend teams using React or Vue.js as project needs dictate.
• Analyse existing legacy solutions, fix bugs, and add new functionality.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and production support.
• Document technical solutions and share knowledge within the team.

Required profile

• Strong experience with PHP 8.x and/or maintaining PHP 5.6 applications.
• Proficiency in MySQL and modern PHP frameworks such as Laravel or CodeIgniter 3.x.
• Familiarity with frontend libraries like React or Vue.js.
• Understanding of REST APIs, integrations, and web application architecture.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to evolving technical requirements.
