About the role

The University of Latvia is seeking a qualified researcher to join the Botanical Garden team. This academic staff position focuses on biological research and contributes to the scientific activities of the garden.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent and collaborative research in plant biology and related fields.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret biological data from field and laboratory work.
• Prepare scientific reports, publications, and presentations.
• Participate in the maintenance and development of the Botanical Garden’s research infrastructure.
• Assist in supervising students and junior staff involved in research projects.

Required profile

• Relevant academic degree in biology, botany, ecology or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in scientific research, preferably with a focus on plant studies.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
