Lead Hardware Systems Engineer – UAVs

About the role

Redwire Corporation is looking for a Lead Hardware Systems Engineer to drive the design and development of unmanned aircraft systems. You will work alongside experts in electronics, mechanics, software, and aeronautics to deliver reliable, cutting‑edge solutions for defense, security, and industrial applications.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain system architecture using models, diagrams, schematics, and documentation.
• Integrate hardware, software, and mechanical subsystems into complete operational UAV systems.
• Participate in system testing, verification, validation, and flight‑mission performance monitoring.
• Prepare technical documentation, test plans, and reports; support engineering reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR).
• Conduct risk management activities such as FMEA.
• Coordinate tasks within a small team and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical, Robotics, Mechatronics, Aerospace, Systems Engineering or related field.
• Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and software engineering principles.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
• Experience in team coordination or technical leadership is a plus.

Required skills

• System modeling and simulation tools.
• Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methods.
• Familiarity with INCOSE Systems Engineering Handbook and ISO/IEC 15288.
• Requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS).
• UAV/aerospace knowledge: flight dynamics, control systems, GNC, autopilot systems.
