About the role
The International Rescue Committee is seeking skilled interpreters to provide accurate, impartial, and confidential language support for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals and their service providers. This role involves both in‑person and remote interpretation across a variety of settings such as clinics, hospitals, schools, community organizations, and government agencies.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver precise interpretation in person, by telephone, videoconference, or other virtual platforms.
- Maintain confidentiality and impartiality while assisting LEP clients.
- Track assignments and work hours using designated software.
- Participate in trainings, assessments, and occasional special projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required profile
- High school diploma preferred; interpretation certification is a plus.
- Relevant professional interpretation experience, especially with refugee or immigrant populations, is strongly preferred.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written) and proficiency in at least one of the listed client languages (e.g., Spanish, French, Arabic, etc.).
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust with diverse clients and partners.
- Reliable transportation to reach appointment locations.
