Interpreter II – Dari & Pashto

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking an Interpreter II to provide accurate, impartial and confidential interpretation services for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals across a variety of settings. The role involves both in‑person and remote interpretation (telephone, video‑conference) to support clinics, hospitals, schools, community organisations and government agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver professional interpretation in Dari and Pashto for LEP clients and service providers.
• Provide interpretation in‑person, via telephone, videoconference or other virtual platforms.
• Track assignments and work hours using designated software.
• Participate in trainings, assessments and occasional special projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Interpretation certification (required).
• Proficiency in Dari and Pashto (spoken and written) and strong English skills.
• High school diploma preferred; formal education in linguistics or related field preferred.
• Minimum one year of professional interpretation experience; experience with refugee or immigrant populations preferred.
• Reliable transportation to appointment locations.
