Head of Banking & Payments

About the role

We are looking for a Head of Banking & Payments to lead the creation of innovative banking products and the operational infrastructure for a fast‑growing payment gateway. You will design end‑to‑end payment workflows, replace manual processes with automated solutions, and work closely with cross‑functional teams to align business needs with technology.

Key responsibilities

• Build and develop the company’s banking product and operational infrastructure from scratch.
• Design scalable, automated payment workflows and define back‑office requirements.
• Translate compliance, finance, treasury, and operations needs into technical specifications.
• Establish payment routing logic and implement control points with Compliance and AML teams.
• Analyse existing payment flows to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimise routing.
• Develop processes for onboarding and managing banking partners.
• Create operational procedures, workflows, and controls around banking and payments.
• Coordinate cross‑functional projects and support internal teams in adopting new banking processes.
• Continuously identify and close operational gaps as the business scales.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in banking, payments, EMI, PSP, BaaS, or fintech.
• Proven track record of building or improving banking or payment products and processes.
• Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end payment lifecycle, banking infrastructure, and payment rails.
• Experience with payment compliance, operational risk, and AML requirements.
• Fluent in English; Russian language skills are a plus.
