GNC Engineer – PX4 Configuration

About the role

We are looking for a Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC) Engineer with deep expertise in PX4 flight‑control systems to join Redwire’s UAV development team. The role focuses on configuring, tuning and validating PX4 autopilot settings across multiple unmanned aerial vehicle platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, tune and optimise PX4 autopilot parameters, mixer setups, sensor configurations and system settings for various UAV airframes.
• Set up flight‑control architectures and perform functional testing in SITL/HITL simulation environments.
• Analyse flight logs to troubleshoot issues and refine configurations.
• Integrate and calibrate critical sensors such as IMUs, GPS/GNSS, magnetometers, barometers and companion‑computer inputs.
• Validate system performance through ground tests and support flight‑test teams during verification.
• Implement configuration updates and assist with firmware adjustments as required.
• Maintain accurate configuration documentation for production and engineering teams.
• Collaborate with avionics, software and hardware groups to ensure alignment with airframe and mission requirements.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in UAV flight‑control systems, GNC engineering or embedded control configuration.
• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, robotics, control systems or a related discipline.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with PX4 setup, configuration and calibration.
• Proficiency with QGroundControl, MAVLink protocol and PX4 log‑analysis tools.
• Experience using MATLAB/Simulink, Python or C++ for control analysis or scripting.
• Familiarity with UAV simulation tools such as Gazebo, JMAVSim or AirSim.
• Knowledge of sensor integration (IMU, GPS/GNSS, magnetometer, barometer) and sensor‑fusion concepts.
