Senior Database Developer

About the role

Join us to contribute to our Data Platform and Data Warehouse solutions for one of the largest e‑commerce destinations in the US. You will work in a multi‑location Agile team based in Riga with remote work possibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise stored procedures, functions, triggers, views and complex T‑SQL queries for the Order Management System and Data Warehouse.
• Own database architecture and design on your projects and enforce data‑integrity standards.
• Build and maintain ETL pipelines using T‑SQL on SQL Server, Python/PySpark on Spark + Iceberg, orchestrated by Airflow.
• Integrate third‑party data sources such as Google Analytics/BigQuery, Jira, Workday, Elasticsearch and MySQL.
• Build reports and dashboards in Apache Superset and Power BI.
• Automate database maintenance, monitoring and performance tuning.
• Work AI‑first, using Claude Code for development, reviews and documentation.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2017–2022.
• Strong T‑SQL skills (procedures, functions, triggers, views, complex queries).
• Proven ability to optimise queries/processes and maintain databases.
• Understanding of Data Warehouse concepts (dimensional modelling, incremental loads).
• Working knowledge of MySQL and Git‑based workflows.
• Excellent written and spoken English, problem‑solving mindset and ownership.
• Willingness to use AI coding assistants daily.

Required skills

• Python for data engineering (pandas, PySpark) – a plus.
• Lakehouse stack: Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, Apache Airflow – a plus.
• Apache Superset or Power BI – a plus.
• AWS services (S3, EKS/Kubernetes) and access‑control tools such as Apache Ranger – a plus.
• SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, SSDT – a plus.
• Hands‑on AI‑assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) – a plus.
• C# – a plus.
• Computer Science or IT degree – a plus.
