About the role

The Infection Control Nurse will work within the Infectious Diseases and Hospital Epidemiology consultancy service, providing direct patient‑related support and educating hospital staff on infection prevention.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process outpatient cards before and after patient visits.
• Issue outpatient vouchers and record all performed manipulations.
• Carry out outpatient procedures, including liver fibroscanning.
• Monitor chronic patients' treatment courses and contact them when necessary.
• Enter data into the infection disease register according to Ministry of Health regulations.
• Collaborate with prisons and long‑term care facilities.
• Inform and train hospital personnel on pre‑epidemic measures, hygiene standards, and infection‑prevention protocols.
• Participate in the development of hospital procedures and in local or international research projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in health sciences.
• Registered in the medical personnel register.
• Strong accuracy, high sense of responsibility and ability to work independently.
• Willingness to engage in teaching and research activities.
• Good communication skills and fluency in Latvian with solid English proficiency.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word).
• Capability to perform liver fibroscanning.
