Image Processing AI Expert

About the role

The Image Processing AI Expert will work on‑site at Riga Stradiņš University, designing and optimizing algorithms for medical and scientific image analysis. The role supports research projects and clinical applications by leveraging machine learning and deep learning techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with faculty and research teams to define project requirements and develop image analysis pipelines.
• Implement, validate, and document reproducible image processing workflows for modalities such as MRI, CT, ultrasound and microscopy.
• Prepare datasets, annotate images, and ensure compliance with data protection and research ethics.
• Publish research results, contribute to grant proposals, and provide technical guidance to students and junior researchers.
• Evaluate emerging tools and methodologies to keep the university at the forefront of AI‑driven image analysis.

Required profile

• Graduate degree (Master’s) in computer science, biomedical engineering, applied mathematics, physics or related field, or equivalent research/industry experience.
• Strong background in image processing, computer vision and statistical evaluation of models.
• Experience working in interdisciplinary, healthcare‑oriented research environments.
• Ability to work independently, communicate technical concepts clearly, and produce high‑quality documentation.
