Flight Systems Manager

About the role

Redwire Corporation is seeking an experienced Flight Systems Manager to lead the development and integration of all flight‑critical avionics and software for the Penguin UAS. The role combines deep technical expertise with leadership of multidisciplinary teams to deliver mission‑critical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage flight‑critical avionics and software development for both the aircraft system and Ground Control System (GCS).
• Direct and mentor Integrated Product Teams responsible for key avionics and software subsystems.
• Oversee aircraft‑side development including autopilot, GNC, PNT, vehicle management, HIL environments, and simulation tools.
• Supervise GCS‑side capabilities such as control software, human‑machine interfaces, payload simulators, ATAK integration, communications protocols, pre‑flight procedures, and alerts.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to drive system architecture, integration, and testing.

Required profile

• 10+ years experience developing autonomous aircraft or unmanned air systems.
• Proven track record deploying embedded software for UAS.
• Hands‑on experience writing firmware or embedded code for physical devices.
• Experience building System Integration Labs (SIL) or Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) labs.
• Direct experience supporting flight test campaigns and resolving system‑level issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechatronics, electrical, mechanical, systems engineering or equivalent.
