Data Scientist - Information Security Threat Detection

About the role

Evolution, a multinational online gaming company, is looking for a Data Scientist for its Information Security Threat Detection team in Riga. The team turns raw data into actionable security decisions by building analytics, detection and predictive tools. The role suits someone who enjoys extracting and analysing data and coding to restrict malicious activity.

Key responsibilities

• Discover anomalies in application usage and access patterns using log (web/app) and financial data
• Create prototypes and implement production batch and streaming pipelines
• Research malicious activity cases proactively to improve detection capabilities
• Analyse data needed for security incident investigations
• Build dashboards and reports to monitor security threats

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in data engineering or data science (5+ years for the senior role)
• Able to deliver projects from conception to production and build monitoring solutions
• Curious, analytical and comfortable using AI assistance to boost productivity
• Nice to have: ability to explain statistical concepts simply, degree in CS, engineering, math or physics, Tableau or other BI tools

Required skills

• Strong Python, including PySpark
• Advanced SQL
• Distributed data systems such as Spark
• AWS (S3, EMR, Athena, Lambda)
• Kafka is a plus; Git, Docker and CI/CD pipelines
