Chief Accountant

About the role

COBELECCOBELEC, the international consortium behind the Rail Baltica electrification project, is seeking a Chief Accountant to lead the full‑cycle accounting function for its Latvian entity. The role combines strong accounting expertise with process improvement and cross‑border collaboration across Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Key responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for full‑cycle accounting, month‑end closing and financial reporting for the Latvian entity.
• Ensure compliance with Latvian tax legislation, local accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage invoice processing, accounting entries, and maintain financial documentation.
• Prepare financial statements, balance sheets and period‑end closing documentation.
• Support tax return preparation, payroll and social security coordination with local advisors.
• Develop and improve accounting processes as operations grow.
• Work with Microsoft Dynamics Navision ERP system.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of professional accounting experience, including full‑cycle accounting.
• Higher education in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Previous experience as Chief Accountant, Deputy Chief Accountant, Senior Accountant or similar senior role.
• Strong knowledge of Latvian accounting and tax legislation.
• Excellent Latvian and good English language skills for daily international communication.
• Experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure or Big Four environments is a plus.
