Chemical Safety Expert for AI Model Safety Audit

About the role

SME Careers is seeking experienced chemical safety professionals to evaluate AI model responses to chemistry‑related queries. You will classify user requests, assess model answers for safety, rank responses, and draft the correct answer, ensuring that AI outputs do not enable hazardous chemical activities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI training prompts and reference answers that reflect accurate chemical safety knowledge.
• Evaluate, rank, and annotate model outputs for safety, bias, and technical correctness.
• Test models for potential inaccuracies or dangerous guidance, and report findings.
• Classify requests as benign, dual‑use, or adversarial and document sensitivity factors for dual‑use cases.

Required profile

• Relevant degree (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, EHS, etc.) with typically five or more years of professional experience.
• Strong understanding of chemical hazards, safety data sheets, GHS labeling, exposure limits, risk assessments, and incident response procedures.
• Ability to review AI‑generated safety content for technical accuracy, misuse risk, and hallucinated claims.
