Chartered Accountant and Tax Lawyer (Riga)

About the role

M365Consult is seeking a Chartered Accountant who also acts as a Tax Lawyer to lead its financial operations in Latvia. This long‑term engagement (12‑24 months) will involve end‑to‑end bookkeeping, tax compliance, and strategic financial support for the fast‑growing European startup.

Key responsibilities

• Manage documents and files in SharePoint, creating clear descriptions for each.
• Handle day‑to‑day bookkeeping, ensuring accurate recording of all financial transactions.
• Prepare and analyse financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and cash‑flow reports.
• Research financial regulations, EU tax laws and industry trends to guarantee compliance.
• Serve as the sole point of contact for all tax‑related matters and liaise with Latvian financial institutions (EDS/SRS/UR.GOV.LV).
• Prepare legal documents for stakeholders and support budget, forecast and management reporting.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to provide financial insights for strategic decisions.
• Maintain organised records for audits and internal reviews.
• Manage QuickBooks efficiently and identify process‑improvement opportunities.
• Communicate clear financial updates and advice to clients, team members and management.

Required profile

• Chartered Accountant with experience acting as a tax lawyer, familiar with EU tax standards.
• Strong understanding of Latvian tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proficient in researching regulations using search engines and AI tools such as ChatGPT.
• Skilled in accounts payable/receivable, bank‑statement reconciliation and financial reporting.
• Ability to identify and implement improvements in financial processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail‑oriented and highly organised.
